The London to Leh Team have successfully completed a 47mile Sponsored kayak around London to raise money for their trip to India in August this year. They hope to raise nearly £5,000 from this, which will cover the cost of the airfares.
The day started at a cold, dark 5am and the group of 11 young people, two staff and a number of support vehicles set off from Laburnum Boat Club in Hackney to LimeHouse tidal lock, where the Regents canal meets the Thames. After another 17 miles on the Thames, passing the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and about a million rowers, the team reached Brentford, where they rejoined the canal.
Another 11hours paddling and 25 miles later the team return to Laburnum, by which time is was dark again! Well done to everyone who completed the Ring and those who helped.
